The origin of textiles brand name Anna Andrea can be found in the roots of childhood and family traditions of the artist and owner Antra Stare.
Brand Anna Andrea stands for traditions in many generations. The love towards handiwork and craftsmanship is a heritage from the artist’s grandmother Anna. In her life she had made hundreds of tablecloths and napkins. Antra remembers: „My Grandmother could do anything, she was sewing, crocheting and even weaving to create wonderful designs. Moreover, she was a very cheerful, generous, warm-hearted and strong woman.”
Antra Stare has inherited the skills and passion from her grandmother to create textiles that represent a soul and sensation.
In appreciation for the inherited talent and skills, Antra named the company in the name of her grandmother, which, Antra believes, gives it a blessing. However, the second word Andrea is artist’s own used pseudonym that she was so strongly using during her school time that some people still call her Andrea instead of Antra. The Artist herself admits that she could have never thought that her passion for painting and craftsmanship will turn into a business one day, however without awareness she was going towards this goal. Since her childhood, at the age of 6, Antra was already attending painting workshops and successfully participated in local and international art competitions. Good academic performance and successful entrance examinations allowed her to be admitted in the highly competitive Janis Rozentals Riga’s School of Art followed by studies in Latvia’s Academy of Art. After graduation from the academy, Antra participated in international exhibitions, and then worked in an advertising agency gaining experience in marketing.
Then, 7 years later awakened the feeling that it is the right time to start her own company using the knowledge and skills gained in the previous years. Antra’s starting capital was only few hundred lats and two sewing-machines. She was working at home and sewing herself. Two month later the demand was so big that she couldn’t bare it alone. Anna Andrea brand offers more than 50 different products. Owner says: “Every festivity is a reason for a new product to be born, this is how we grow.”
